In a place with as great a variety of settings and property types as Marbella, even the luxury market is known for its opposing yet tantalising options.

Though they are very different kinds of properties that offer a highly distinct lifestyle setting, villas and penthouse generally speaking do belong in the same price category. For those who want to be close to all the nightlife and leisure action, a penthouse in Puerto Banús is the top choice, while people who wish for peace and amazing sea views close to all amenities will want to look at Los Monteros Playa – east of Marbella town – as well as Estepona and the New Golden Mile in the west.

Country estates on the edge of Marbella
If you want to entertain in a glamorous way, be close to all the life but also lock the door behind you and go on your travels, a penthouse is a great option. If, however, you want the space, privacy and amenities of a comfortable family home, where children can roam around freely and you can entertain with largesse, then a country property is the ultimate choice.

It may be hard for some to imagine, but there are also true rustic villas and country properties for sale in Marbella, mostly in luxurious gated hill club areas such as El Madroñal, the Marbella Club Golf Resort and within the lofty wooded hills of Monte Mayor. The latter offers the most open space and the most authentic country feel, though perhaps the chicest of all is La Zagaleta.

In all you will find gated security, large properties surrounded by lush gardens and an expanse of your own countryside – offering the peace and privacy many yearn for while actually being part of a community and within 15-20 minutes of downtown Marbella and its many amenities.
