Who would have thought it a year ago, but not only did Marbella enjoy a good summer holiday season, where normally visitor numbers drop after the heights of August they have now continued almost unchanged – resulting in record statistics for the months of September and October.

The rebound has been so strong that holiday reservations during these two months have been three times as high as they were in 2019, and with infection rates consistently low and dropping, it seems the Costa del Sol has turned a corner and is heading back to full normality. It’s a delight to see the convivial life come back to Marbella town, restaurant and café terraces, and people returning to the beaches, nature spots and golf courses of this region.

Among the most high-profile visitors to Marbella right now is British Prime Minister, Boris Johnson, who is enjoying a family holiday at the gorgeous Benahavis estate of Tory minister and peer Zac Goldsmith, where they enjoy classic Andalusian charm and comfort in a setting surrounded by gorgeous gardens. The property is located in a green valley just outside the pretty village of Benahavis, known for its country restaurants and wonderful scenery. The Torre Tramores estate, which offers all manner of comforts, is typical of the beautiful homes in the area and has now placed Marbella even more in the international spotlight.

Famous visitors and high property demand
Property sales, which have been high throughout the summer, have also continued unabated, thanks in part due to keen interest from European and other international homebuyers, plus a strong return of the Spanish property market in general. In particular the desire is strong among many Spanish buyers to escape the crowding of the major cities and find quality of life in locations on the Costa del Sol while benefitting from the ability to spend more time working remotely.

The region’s good communications network and growing availability of first-class co-working spaces and professional support services, not to mention an excellent choice of international schools and colleges, make this an increasingly attractive option, as do the job opportunities in the nearby tech valley in Málaga.

Not only is Marbella returning to full strength, its climate, amenities and lifestyle are making it more popular and attractive than ever. Please get in touch if you would like to know more about buying a property in this area.
